My Basket Shop - Handmade Baskets KZN

All our baskets are handwoven in kzn, i work with ladies in rural areas.These baskets are woven by masters , not only are they experts at what they do, they are the backbone of their families, they are also grannies , mothers ,sisters,wives,friends working together in supporting each other. They weave baskets and other home products in their home or under the shade of trees while chatting,in betwwen the daily household. This craft is passed down through generations of women in rural areas. While most of these communities. do not have access to electricity and other modern conveniences. The baskets are hand woven using (ilala) palm tree they harvested and some buy it. Its been an amazing journery working with all of them and i add leather on most baskets to make them different its been so so exctiting to come up with different design and ideas all the time.
