Jarrad studied medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand. He completed his diploma in anaesthesia before enrolling for a Master of Science Degree in sports medicine, he graduated with distinction. Since then he has worked with various sports teams at university and provincial level. Being a cyclist himself, Jarrad has a special interest in cycling medicine and endurance sport medicine in general. He is a team doctor for the Dimension Data pro cycling team (previously MTN Qhubeka). His work with the team has led him to the far corners of the world and also to Le Tour de France.
